Careers
We are the drivers of tomorrow.
We drive Northwards
At Northwards, we have multi-disciplined teams working across our network of depots providing top quality services to our customers. The broad appeal of what we do means that we can offer a tremendous variety of work experiences including unprecedented exposure to the aquaculture, retail, renewable energy, waste, and oil and gas sectors.
As you would expect from a business that does what we do, Northwards can provide a variety of entry points for those looking to pursue a career as a professional truck driver, from those looking to move up through the categories from a local van driver to a local truck driver, eventually involved in the movement of trailers between our depots and delivering full loads on behalf of our customers.
In Shetland and Orkney we have commercial vehicle workshops where we employ apprentices, partially qualified and fully qualified mechanics who work on our own fleet and vehicles owned by our customers
All our depots have an element of transit and long-term storage included in the day-to-day activities and, as a result, we need staff who are also trained in forklift driving and material handling.
We have 125 trailers on the move every day, filled with our customers freight, and we have freight coordinators and supervisors based at all the depots, ensuring that they are where they need to be and meeting the ferry schedules as planned.
At each depot we have customer service advisors focused on the customers, providing advice and quotes, booking freight into the network, and ensuring that our obligations to our customers are met.
Behind the scenes there are many other who play equally important roles, supporting the business in areas such as HSEQ, HR, IT, commercial, procurement, marketing and accounts.
