We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Workshop Lead to lead day-to-day operations in our busy Shetland vehicle workshop. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work alongside the team, carrying out repairs and maintenance while also coordinating tasks, ensuring quality standards, and supporting team development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out diagnostics, repairs, and servicing on a range of plant and vehicles, including HGVs.
- Manage maintenance schedules and ensure timely repairs.
- Lead by example in the workshop, supporting and guiding mechanics during daily tasks.
- Allocate jobs and manage workloads to meet deadlines and service commitments.
- Monitor job progress and ensure work is completed to high standards.
- Record working hours and job details for costing and payroll purposes.
- Liaise with internal departments and external customers to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure workshop safety, compliance, and cleanliness at all times.
- Support training and development of workshop staff.
What We’re Looking For:
- Recognised qualification in vehicle maintenance or engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with HGV systems and diagnostics.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or lead technician role.
- Full UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 preferred).
- Practical leadership skills with a focus on teamwork and productivity.
- Good organisational and communication abilities.
